Personal Görkem Çetin has been working with Linux since 1992 and PCs since the early Sinclair in 1985. After entering Department of EE, and then Mathematics Education Department of Middle East Technical University, Görkem Çetin founded Gelecek Inc. and served as CTO and later CEO helping more than 250 SMEs and enterprise customers throughout Turkey build their IT infrastructure using Linux and open source technologies. He’s worked as a director and consultant for Turkish National Institute of Electronics and Cryptology, Vestel R&D Group (Europe’s biggest TV, set-top-box and IPTV manufacturer) and Pepsi Turkey. Taking part in 2 European FP6 projects, 1 EUREKA project and 2 national TEYDEB projects (with a total of 27M Euro budget), he published more than 15 papers, written 5 books and contributed to 3 book chapters related to IPTV, trusted computing, open source systems, Linux and human computer interaction. - Co-managing Ground Control Station product for “Karayel İnsansız Hava Aracı” with Vestel Savunma A.Ş. This product won the 18 million TL Turkish Defense bid
- Consultancy to product development of IPTV product bidded to Turk Telekom
- Conceptualizing the Hotel TV and Digital Signage product lines (10.000+ products sold worldwide)
- Getting in touch with international vendors and collaborate in the areas of convergent TV-related content
- Development of new business areas and building partnerships with content vendors in the field of upcoming “Vestel Connected TV” product (including S&T Microelectronics, Turk Telekom, Intel, Opera, IEI Taiwan and Access)

- Technical and financial planning of Interactive Digital TV project with support from Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (project budget: over 1M Euros)
- Co-managing the international Magneto (CELTIC/EUREKA) project with 12 partners (incl. Ericsson, Siemens and Telefonica), with a goal of adding a new level of service assurance and network management support to the outer edge domain (project budget: Over 4M Euros)
Trusted Computing Team Manager at TUBITAK/UEKAE - Government Agency ; Research industry (November 2004 – July 2009 - 4 years 9 months) - Managed a team to work on Trusted Computing related software development
- Initiated the TUBITAK Trusted Computing Laboratory, a facility working on TPM chipsets and applications
- National partner of FP6 Open TC (Open Trusted Computing). Managed a software group develop to a secure mail messaging software based on TPM. Project partners include IBM, AMD, Novell, HP and Infineon (project budget: 21M Euros)
- Technical coordinator FP6 tOSSAD project for 2 years. Co-managed the consortium in terms of technical and managerial planning (project budget: 775000 Euros)
- Managing and directing a workgroup on request of State Planning Agency's "Short term activity plan", creating two reports ("Financial, administrative and legal issues of F/OSS in public administrations" and "A migration plan for public administrations")
General Manager at Gelecek A.S - Computer Software industry (January 2000 – February 2004 - 4 years 2 months) - Co-founded the company with a vision to provide solutions to help companies run their businesses in a secure, cost-effective and efficient way
