PersonalGörkem Çetin is an open source evangelist, training manager and university instructor. His current doctorate studies focus on human computer interaction issues of open source software. He has been working with Linux since 1992 and PCs since the early Sinclair in 1985. After entering Department of EE, and then Mathematics Education Department of Middle East Technical University, Görkem Çetin founded Gelecek Inc. and served as CTO and later CEO helping more than 250 SMEs and enterprise customers throughout Turkey build their IT infrastructure using Linux and open source technologies. He’s worked as PM and consultants for Turkish National Institute of Electronics and Cryptology, Vestel R&D Group (Europe’s biggest TV, set-top-box and IPTV manufacturer) and Pepsi Turkey. Taking part in 2 European FP6 projects, 1 EUREKA/CELTIC project and 2 national TEYDEB projects (with a total of 27M Euro budget), he published more than 15 papers, written 5 books and contributed to 3 book chapters related to IPTV, trusted computing, open source systems, Linux and human computer interaction. Görkem Çetin was awarded as being 13th in the university entrance examinations in Turkey out of 1.3 million students in 1993 and Information Media Award by Turkish Informatics Foundation in 1998.
