Business

Interest areas

Linux

My main duty, job, interest and focus since 1993 summer. I've been involved both in technical and managerial domain in Linux and FOSS in general, enabling hundreds of companies migrate to Linux/FOSS. My 5 books related to Linux and network management are the best selling ones in their area. Being among the founders of first Linux support company and Linux Users Association of Turkey, my articles (over 100) have been published in many journals.

Related projects: Eylem7, TOSSAD and OPEN_TC

Open source software and development models

The Free/Open Source Software (F/OSS) development model has been successful in an outstanding pace. The ever growing open source movement has silently managed to establish highly successful evolution techniques over the last two decades. As a result, there are hundreds of thousands developers contributing to this ecosystem, yielding many opportunities to leverage this process for the benefit of the European industry that depends more and more on quality software produced faster and at substantially lower costs.

Human computer interaction (HCI)

My PhD thesis subject. I'm mainly interested in interface design, usability tests, usability of open source software and out of box experience. You can find some of my articles in "Articles & papers" section on the left.

Information systems

Another interesting subject that keeps me alert while I fiddle up with merging F/OSS with organizational processes. IS in general means the computers, communications facilities, computer and communications networks, and data and information that may be recorded, processed or shared by them, including software, specifications, and procedures for their operation.

Operating systems

Internal runnign principles and dynamics of Linux has been my long time interest, including the memory management, I/O subsystem, security framework and such.

Localization

I'm trying to tidy up and keeps thing working in KDE, GNOME and OpenOffice.org localization groups since 1998. For more information regarding our voluntary work, please click on the links below:

GNOME i18n status: GNOME i18n
KDE i18n status: KDE i18n

Networking

I've designed the syllabus and presented various courses for BS and MS students in University of Sabanci , University of Bahcesehir and University of Halic between 2001-2004.
